It’s been awhile since I shared the last blog post. In the last one I recorded 3 videos where I showed you 3 different ways to produce a bassline and since many producers out there loved the content and asked me for more videos like this, I decided to record another tutorial video. (more…)
Damn, it was so good to wake up every morning with clear ideas about our next song, to sit in front of our computer, open our DAW and let things flow naturally. This would be perfect wouldn’t it? But it seems that often this is not the reality. In fact, we open our DAW and nothing comes out. (more…)
“Getting what you want is simple, but it’s not easy.” This quote by Mel Robbins represents one of my life mottos. In fact, if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. We all know what it takes to achieve our goals but in practice things are more complicated than they are in theory and sometimes we feel lost and many artists cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel because they give up. The truth is, if we don’t act we will always be in the same place. And this path was never easy. Simple but not easy. And it all boils down to one word – persistence. (more…)
Videos – they’re everywhere! Some become viral, others can transmit a powerful message. Increasingly, videos have a big impact on social networks and consequently on people’s lives, which is quite understandable because videos are very interactive. Let’s look at the example of YouTube channels like Cercle and Boiler Room. They had a great projection thanks to their originality. They managed to create a concept that is currently recognized on a global scale. It’s not just about the music, it’s the way it is shared to the public and fans. I’ve already realized the great advantage of videos in the musical success of an artist and I keep in mind that it was thanks to my DJ Mixes on YouTube that I got a lot of fans. That’s why I decided to write this blog post and present you 4 reasons why you should make more videos. (more…)
Let’s get straight to the point! Nowadays, if you (artists) don’t have a strong presence on digital platforms you will hardly get anywhere. Increasingly, people live on the Internet and wouldn’t be a smart move if you didn’t have an artistic profile on social networks. When I say people, I say fans! However, it’s not enough just to have an artistic profile because nowadays, almost all the artists have one. If you want to build or increase your fanbase you should think outside the box. You will hardly arouse public interest if you do the same thing that thousands of artists do. And I’m not just talking about music but also about communication, the way you interact with the audience.
Nowadays, there are countless ways to make your music available for everyone. In theory, the process is simple. Just upload your songs, sets or podcasts on different social networks but… who’s going to listen? Who are your fans? Where are they? How do they behave on social networks? What time are they most active? (more…)
Welcome to Blog Post 08 my dear friends. First, I want to apologize for not sharing any posts on the last weeks, since it was Christmas time and I wanted to spend time with my family, and on January 1st, as you might imagine, I had a huge hangover due to New Year’s Eve.
And speaking of New Year’s Eve… “NEW YEAR, NEW LIFE” – The biggest cliche of all time! But the truth is, if we do nothing to change, life will be the same. Don’t wait for luck and opportunity to knock on your door. Even if that happens, happiness will not last. Doesn’t it feel better when you get what you want because you fought for it? The feeling of personal fulfillment is unbelievable! If you have a dream but you don’t know how to reach it, or if you don’t have enough motivation to get there, this post may help you. I wrote this post regarding producers and DJ’s who want to evolve in the musical world but anyone is welcome to read these 6 tips to improve and make 2018 the best year of your lives! (more…)
Another post, another dose of motivation! This time I will talk about a rule that I think is key to the growth of any music artist. This rule, in practice, doesn’t exist. It was created by me and therefore, it may not be consensual. It has been appearing over the years since I created my project Hozho and so far, it has worked quite well for me. One day I woke up and I thought that made perfect sense. In the future, I would like to develop even more this rule. Maybe even write a book. But until then, I leave you here the basics of the 3P Rule: Psychology, Production and Promotion. (more…)
“Done is better than perfect” – A quote from Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer (COO) of Facebook. I learned this lesson when I was studying Marketing at the University of Aveiro and since then it has been one of my life mottos, especially at an artistic level. And it’s around this sentence that this Blog Post #5 is going to be based because I believe it’s a plus for all people who want to achieve their goals. However, as would be expected, I will address this theme by focusing primarily on electronic music and more specifically, the production process that all music artists love. But of course, this learning can be applied to any area, you can get the idea. I sincerely hope that this post will help you to find the light that you need to take a step forward towards your dreams.
Being my first post of this electronic music blog, I think it makes sense to tell, in first place, a little bit of my story. Despite having created Hozho only in 2015, my path through electronic music production had begun a few years ago. However, I will try to summarize everything that happened until the day I decided to create this project that today is an integral part of my life. (more…)
