Mauritius, a paradise on Earth. One of those places that we see in Google images and we dream and think if someday we will have possibilities to go there. A few years ago, I didn’t realize that all this was going to happen in my life, at least not so soon. I thought that after creating this project it would take years before music would take me to other countries. But Mauritius? Who would have imagined that such a small country, an island with about one million people in the Indian Ocean, would have a community of ravers, lovers of electronic music? (more…)
Those who follow me on social networks know that I’m producing a track called Taking Over, which will be included in my next EP Be The Best & Fuck The Rest. Many of you are interested in how I create my songs. I don’t want to leave you aside from my creative process and for this reason I decided to make this video to show you how this song is being developed. A video is worth a thousand words and I think it is more interesting than to writing about it. I hope it helps you and inspires you. Take care! (more…)
Let’s get straight to the point! Nowadays, if you (artists) don’t have a strong presence on digital platforms you will hardly get anywhere. Increasingly, people live on the Internet and wouldn’t be a smart move if you didn’t have an artistic profile on social networks. When I say people, I say fans! However, it’s not enough just to have an artistic profile because nowadays, almost all the artists have one. If you want to build or increase your fanbase you should think outside the box. You will hardly arouse public interest if you do the same thing that thousands of artists do. And I’m not just talking about music but also about communication, the way you interact with the audience.
Nowadays, there are countless ways to make your music available for everyone. In theory, the process is simple. Just upload your songs, sets or podcasts on different social networks but… who’s going to listen? Who are your fans? Where are they? How do they behave on social networks? What time are they most active? (more…)
Welcome to Blog Post 08 my dear friends. First, I want to apologize for not sharing any posts on the last weeks, since it was Christmas time and I wanted to spend time with my family, and on January 1st, as you might imagine, I had a huge hangover due to New Year’s Eve.
And speaking of New Year’s Eve… “NEW YEAR, NEW LIFE” – The biggest cliche of all time! But the truth is, if we do nothing to change, life will be the same. Don’t wait for luck and opportunity to knock on your door. Even if that happens, happiness will not last. Doesn’t it feel better when you get what you want because you fought for it? The feeling of personal fulfillment is unbelievable! If you have a dream but you don’t know how to reach it, or if you don’t have enough motivation to get there, this post may help you. I wrote this post regarding producers and DJ’s who want to evolve in the musical world but anyone is welcome to read these 6 tips to improve and make 2018 the best year of your lives! (more…)
To talk about Melodark Minimal is to talk about my journey, my story, my inspirations and the desire to create something different. My passion for electronic music came at an advanced stage of my life. However, music in general has been part of my life since I was born. At that time, in an unconscious way but now I’m fully conscious. And it was that musical awareness that led me to define my path and my musical style, through the different influences that inspired me throughout this journey. I’ve always been a creator and I decided to create something that is more than an electronic music genre. It’s a movement. A philosophy. A musical story. It’s Melodark Minimal. (more…)
Another post, another dose of motivation! This time I will talk about a rule that I think is key to the growth of any music artist. This rule, in practice, doesn’t exist. It was created by me and therefore, it may not be consensual. It has been appearing over the years since I created my project Hozho and so far, it has worked quite well for me. One day I woke up and I thought that made perfect sense. In the future, I would like to develop even more this rule. Maybe even write a book. But until then, I leave you here the basics of the 3P Rule: Psychology, Production and Promotion. (more…)
“Done is better than perfect” – A quote from Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer (COO) of Facebook. I learned this lesson when I was studying Marketing at the University of Aveiro and since then it has been one of my life mottos, especially at an artistic level. And it’s around this sentence that this Blog Post #5 is going to be based because I believe it’s a plus for all people who want to achieve their goals. However, as would be expected, I will address this theme by focusing primarily on electronic music and more specifically, the production process that all music artists love. But of course, this learning can be applied to any area, you can get the idea. I sincerely hope that this post will help you to find the light that you need to take a step forward towards your dreams.
In this Blog Post #04 I will talk about my recent tour in Argentina. I will also talk about the new tracks I am producing, a new EP and the future DJ Mix 03, which although it hasn’t a release date yet, its design is already being developed. Stay tuned for updates!
Producers: Have you ever wondered how that artist you idolize made that transition in that song you love? Or what effect did he/she use in build-up / drop? Or how does he/she do that punchy kick? Well, I confess that many times I don’t even know the answer because in electronic music we have endless ways of doing things. And that’s good! After all, the production of electronic music is a continuous learning, we are always evolving and that’s what makes it so interesting, the fact that we can explore every detail, every transition, every moment of the music in order to transpose our emotions and mood.
