How To Use Persistence To Stand Out

Hozho - How To Use Persistence To Stand Out

“Getting what you want is simple, but it’s not easy.” This quote by Mel Robbins represents one of my life mottos. In fact, if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. We all know what it takes to achieve our goals but in practice things are more complicated than they are in theory and sometimes we feel lost and many artists cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel because they give up. The truth is, if we don’t act we will always be in the same place. And this path was never easy. Simple but not easy. And it all boils down to one word – persistence.

Hozho Persistence Quote 2

Persistence is king. I believe this is one of the most important qualities that any DJ or producer should have. I know that many of you guys understand the frustration of working hard in your dreams and goals and the results never show up. And then we see other artists who don’t seem to work as much as you do, and they seem to have more opportunities and success in the music industry. We begin to doubt our capabilities and think we are doing something wrong. Guess what? If you really have doubts about your work, if you don’t believe in your music or if you think you are doing something wrong, you have the wrong mindset!

You should always believe in your work, make the music that you love. When you believe in your work then you should also believe that you are good at it and that it’s only a matter of time until you reach the top. There are no elevators on this walk, you must take the stairs and believe me… there will be many!

Your attitude should always be positive, even when things aren’t going well. I’ll share you my story. After I released my EP Be The Best & Fuck The Rest and my DJ Mix 03, I believed that it would start raining proposals and gigs because I really believed in the quality of both works. But things didn’t go as planned. I’m still at home, with some unsuccessful proposals and gigs that have been canceled or postponed. But that doesn’t put me down! On the contrary, it gives me even more strength to continue to work and to produce my lovely Melodark. I realized that without gigs I have free time that I can dedicate to my next album Yin Yang. And then yeah, maybe more gigs will start to show up. Opportunities arise in difficulties.

Hozho Persistence Quote

The path is not easy but the great artists at the top also had to sweat a lot to get there. And when you get there, you’ll feel even better because you know that all your effort and dedication paid off. This is not a race. Take your time. Do your time management but never give up, especially when things are not going well.

The persistent ones of this world are always winners. And YOU are a winner! Work, work, work… and when things start to get better, work a little harder. Because in the music industry, one day you can be on the top of the mountain and the next day you can fall. You can go from hero to zero in a blink of an eye. So, do your best ALWAYS! Believe in yourself, in your music, in your project.

It’s simple but not easy. Until next time!
